[Background]
--Seiga grew up during the Han dynasty in China, known for its flourish in religion, arts, and culture. Her real name is "Wu Qing'e" (the "Quinq'e is the pronunciation of Seiga in Mandarin; Wu is her surname). At this time, Taoism was on the steep rise. In fact, the previous emperor of the Qin Dynasty had actually died on a journey to obtain the elixir of immortality that Taoists had said existed. In any case, Seiga grew up relatively normally, if a bit privileged. Her father became engrossed in the Tao, immediately disappearing and abandoning his family thereafter to follow it as a hermit. Since then Seiga's fascination with the Tao began.

--Seiga marries into the Huo family, becoming a young wife and mother. From this engagement she has two sons and one daughter. Naturally, with a family like this she is still not satisfied- after all, she was not freely able to practice Taoism. It is noted that she spend eight years in a state of depression, unable to exercise her privileged. She would rarely speak with anyone during this time, and it is thought that she was secretly beginning to refine her practice as a Taoist. At the end of eight years, she gives her farewell to her family and fakes her death. She accomplishes this by disguising a bamboo shoot as her body, which her family buries and mourns. In this way she abandons her family, showing that even those that have closes ties to her are pushed aside for her own ambition. The question, therefore, is if she has regrets. (To be elaborated upon in the personality section.)

--Through her time in China, Seiga pursued both intellectual, psychical, and spiritual goals. Also like any other hermit, she gave some aid and advice to others. However, unlike the other hermits, Seiga did these things to help mainly herself in a "I helped you so that means I did a good deed and that's good for me" way. In addition to all of this, Seiga became a renowned, powerful hermit, and at this point the term hermit is only a polite, folkish way of referring to someone as a witch. She refined her Taoist technique and abilities, gained an immortal body and youthful appearance, and learned how to resurrect the dead. While the people she "helped" as a hermit liked what she was able to provide for them (in terms of charms and medicine and whatdoyaknow seeing a dead relative one more time!), these same acts made her respect become more out of fear. This plus her her ultimate intention behind all of her acts (that is, they must benefit herself in some way, shape or form), made Heaven frown her. Those in Heaven rejected her and gave her the title of "Wicked Hermit". The question from this chapter in her life is whether or not she holds some bitterness towards Heaven for rejecting her. (Answered in Personality Section)

--Centuries pass. Seiga becomes quite worldly- noting aspects about religion and culture even not from Asia. Also during this time, Taoism was having a primary influence on culture, politics, art, and martial arts- mostly notably seen in the Wudang traditions, whose ancestry is traced back to the Taoist priest/hermit Zhang San Feng. Seiga rather... enjoys being a hermit and her status. She beings to classify herself as not human anymore, yet she is also noted to "love" humans and their behavior in various situations across the ages. At one point Seiga decides that Taoism is prominent enough in China and that there are enough hermits to go around. She travels to nearby Japan where she knows there are less Hermits around, only to find the country's two main religions (Shinto and Buddhism) deadlocked in political/religious matters. Seeing this as an opportunity, she convinces Toyosatomimi no Miko- a prominent person at the time- to come to the side of Taoism. On the surface Miko would spread Buddhism to the rest of Japan, but in the meantime she would practice Taoism under Seiga's tutelage. Miko's goal was immortality, and Seiga knew exactly how to give her that.

--Seiga aided Miko in the shikaisen "death experiment" for Miko, Futo, and Soga (Miko being the leader and Futo and Soga being her vassals). This was a highly dangerous and tricky Taoist spell that would give the three an immortal body after they would be resurrected after their deaths. Making sure everything was in place, Seiga secured the three in a Mausoleum in Gensokyo. She revived a Yoshika as a Jiang Shi (essentially a reanimated corpse) to guard them until their due resurrection date. At this time, all records of Seiga are now lost. It can be inferred that she continued spreading Taoism one way or another.

--Fast forward to Miko and co.'s resurrection, the heroine encounters Seiga as the stage 4 boss. They fight, Seiga is defeated, but Seiga doesn't seem to care all that much because- guess what- the death experiment worked. Seiga

--After the events of Ten Desires Seiga has been known to stay around humans. She "loves" them after all.

--Seiga is wicked as "too old". The Kishin Suki is sent from hell to collect her soul. Seiga easily evades the Kishin's attack, seemingly unfazed, and avoids her demise to live for another day... much to Reimu's chagrin. This hermit has ambitions, and for whatever reason they are both continuous and elusive.

[Personality]
- Does Seiga have regrets? The answer to that is yes, to a certain degree. Seiga is not unsympathetic to her family. She remembers her father leaving her at an early age to pursue his own goals. This is why she faked her death instead of outright leaving them without another word. With this, her family could rest peacefully knowing that she died instead of outright leaving them for what she knows is a quite selfish desire. This is what she would have wanted her own father to do, because this way her own children and husband wouldn't follow in her footsteps and the cycle would not continue.

- Does Seiga hold some bittness? The answer to that is also yes, at least at first. To her, they didn't understand her circumstances. She tricked her family because she did not want them to feel bad for her outright leaving them, after all. She was spreading Taoism- a simple message of peace- and that was a good thing, right? Her Taoist practices amazed and helped others, too. Certainly that couldn't be seen as bad. To Heaven, this did not matter. Her acts of tricking others and doing deeds only to put herself in a better light marked her as devious. Remarkably, this rejection did not discourage her from continuing to spread or practice Taoism. Seiga is a determined and driven individual; not even Heaven (and later Hell) could stop her from pursuing her goals. Now, Seiga does not care as much for being accepted by Heaven. She has come to terms with herself and her own desires, and acknowledges them as something that Heaven won't understand. In a way, she herself rejects Heaven as something that is political and cultural as the societies found on earth.

--Seiga is... like water. Evasive. Merciless. She prefers to dance around answers to questions and anything pertaining to herself, questioning things where she actually doesn't care about the question or answer, and playing up the dramatics upon other people's assumptions when necessary. She would rather have someone misunderstand and believe what they want to believe than her simply telling them her own answer. To her, it's obvious that she is evasive and she does not care if people call her out on this front. She's not trying to be mysteriousness for the sake of mystery, keeping secrets, or being insufferable; she simply enjoys being this way.

-She has no respect for the dead and has very little ethics. In her mind and through her experience, anything goes depending on the time, place, culture, and politics. She sees rules and morals as enduring as a rotting corpse. That is to say, not at all stable or worthwhile.

-Passive aggressive. Like. Whoa. It goes along with her evasive personality- except with this she doesn't hide it or bother with much tact.

-While the argument can be made that as a hermit she has helped people through giving them advice, remedies, spells, and immortality in two cases, she remains wicked. She's did not help them out of a pure intent; instead, she only wished to help them to further herself for obtaining good karma. Seiga did not realize that karma, or deeds, also takes into account intent. Because her intent was selfish, her deeds are viewed as wicked. Over time Seiga began to not care for this.

[Abilities]
-Like nearly all Touhous, Seiga can fly.
-Danmaku. Spell Cards. For the purposes of this game, her Danmaku spell cards will not be above the 'Normal' mode.
-Ability to pass through nearly anything that qualifies as a "wall". Seiga has the natural ability to phase through walls. For greater distances and for others to pass through a wall along with her, she uses the chisel she wears as a hair pin to physically carve a hole in a "wall". After a time, the hole magically closes back up as if it was never there.
-Necromancy: She can raise corpses up as obedient puppets for herself. Specfically, she makes them into jiangshi, or a vampire/zombie. These jiangshi live by draining not blood, but the qi (life essence) of people. The way she keeps them as obedient is by not preserving their brains to their full condition (thus making them more like puppets). She could, though. It's just that she doesn't want to. As the master of these resurrected people, she has ultimate control over them (in a way that she has their new life/death line in her hands)- this does not mean she can physically control them, but she can order them around with ease depending on how much she let their brain (and will) reform.
-Healing: She has been been shown to repair bodies from perpetual death in less than three seconds.
-Sword: She carries a hidden, hiltless Jian (pinyin jiąn) sword. There's nothing remarkable about it other than the fact it may have poison upon its blade if she wishes. In fact, Taoism and the sword have been linked together through millennium. She favors the Wudang Daoist style of sword play: the Tai Yi Daoist Sword, the San Feng Taiji sword form, the Eight Immortals' Sword, and the Changing Dragon sword.
-Various Chinese magic: They come in a wide array of potency and quality. Magic, herbalism, clairvoyance, astrology, "villain hitting" (aka exorcising), purification, and cursing.
-She can make a plant look like a very convincing duplicate body. In her own case, Seiga used a bamboo rod.

[Sample post]
[First Person]
Immorality. [ The way she says it could freeze the very air. ] Who wishes for it? I presume many do, of course, but it's certainly is not for everyone. [ A mild smile. ] How many lives have been ruined by it, how many lives have been saved by it? If you have an answer to this question, then immorality is not for you. [ An answer, not the answer. ] And that is my only caution. [ Chin hands. ] I am being generous with that, you see. I am certain other witches... hermits would not tell you anything else.

[Third Person]
Slowly, she awakens from a week of sleep, the duration of it but only a nap to her. Seiga Kaku can't be inclined to lift her head up from her working desk just yet, at least not until she sees the small twitch of a finger from the corpse of a man that lies in front of her. It's the tell-tale sign that once again she has succeeded in bringing the dead back to life... or at least a definition of life.

As she destroys part of the brain to ensure that this reanimated corpse will be dull witted and obedient, she knows that some may call her unsympathetic. When she destroys the identity of the this person, she knows that some may call her wicked. Yet, Seiga still prefers to call herself a hermit rather than a witch. She believes that if she were truly unsympathetic, she would have destroyed their sense of autonomy while they had been alive. Likewise if she were truly wicked, she would have destroyed their sense of self while they still had been able to think. No- Seiga believes that by waiting for their death to then turn them into a jiang-shi is the ethical option.

With a touch of two of her fingers to this corpse's forehead, she accomplishes taking control. It moves some more, obviously frightened and confused; that's natural enough for someone who is brought back to life. "Your name...?" She brushes its bangs to the side tenderly, channeling the mother she had been so long ago for a moment. "Maa, it is Setsun."

The fully realized jiang-shi seems to quiet after that. Although it may seem funny how a name could make this person at ease; in reality, that name is now all he has. Seiga knows she owns everything else about him, including his new life.
